We have hired former teachers, shoe salesmen, and missionaries for this position and all have been successful!

A Solar Energy Consultant helps homeowners and businesses analyze their energy needs, with the goal of reducing their electricity costs and carbon footprint. Emphasis is placed on listening to your customer and creating a buildable design that meets their needs. Based on your findings, you'll offer solutions on how to reduce utility costs by taking advantage of government incentives in the area of solar and batteries.

TRAINING AND ON-BOARDING

Sunpower by Legacy Solar has a 6 week training and mentorship program which includes the following:

  • Understanding how a solar system works and how they are installed
  • The Sandler Sales Method
  • Designing solar systems based on customer goals and site data
  • How to use Legacy Solar tools to create proposals
  • Explaining incentives and financing
  • Generating closing documents for customers
  • Working with the sales manager and a mentor for guidance
  • $9000 Training Stipend (spread out over a minimum of 6 weeks)

WEEKLY EXPECTATIONS

  • Generate a minimum of 8 leads by door knocking, attending events, networking, etc
  • Make at least 1 contact with all new leads you have not had an appointment with
  • Design 4 new solar systems
  • Meet with 4 new customers to present project proposals and explain costs and incentives
  • Make at least 1 follow up contact with all leads that you have had an appointment with
  • Creating closing documents for 1 new customer
  • Attend meetings with the sales manager and the sales team

Minimum Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 1 yr minimum experience in a Service &/or Sales industry
  • Excellent Customer Service & Engagement Skills (phone, email crafting)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite (Docs/Sheets)
  • Proficient in use of laptop, iPad, and smartphone
  • Excellent math skills (preferably Algebra)
  • Possesses a high drive for success & is a quick learner
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record
  • Flexibility with customer’s schedules
  • Willingness to self-generate leads
  • Reside in Champaign-Urbana (or willing to drive to or relocate there)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Commission and Bonus structure to be discussed during interview process, but Energy Consultants can easily be making 6 figures in their first year

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $150,000.00 per year
